Milan Fair postponed until June
MILAN – Organizers of the Salone del Mobile furniture fair have postponed the event due to concerns relating to the outbreak of the coronavirus in Italy.
The fair was originally scheduled from April 21-26 but has been postponed until June 16-21, according to the fair’s Facebook page. The fair also posted the announcement on its Twitter feed, showing a video in Italian with the Mayor of Milan and two other officials.
The decision to postpone the event occurs as Italy has been identified as the country with the highest number of cases outside of Asia. According to CNN.com, it has 283 total cases and seven deaths associated with the outbreak.
The majority of the cases – 212 – were identified in the Northern Italy region of Lombardy, where six people have been confirmed dead according to a map illustration posted at CNN.com. According to the same map, there were another 38 cases in Veneto, also in Northern Italy, where one person with the virus has died.
