GoodWood makes face shields for healthcare workers

NEW ORLEANS – GoodWood, a design and fabrication firm specializing in custom furniture, has pivoted to meet the needs of local hospitals in the midst of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.

The company said that in a 48-hour window in the first week of April, it transitioned from fine woodworking and crafting custom furniture to providing personal protective equipment in the form of face shields to healthcare professionals in New Orleans who are fighting this crisis.

The state of Louisiana currently has more than 18,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

GoodWood has now employed 60 people in New Orleans and partnered with six additional local businesses to increase output and meet the rising demand.

The company plans to ramp up production capacity from the current 15,000 face shields per week to between 40,000 and 50,000 face shields per week.
